It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of green and black.

The arms are Argent above a mound of two coupeaux Sable charged with a bar wavy Azure fimbriated Argent, a bundle of three wheat ears Vert tied Gules between two bees Or and in chief Azure an eagle Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA POUCA DE AGUIAR".
Vila Pouca de Aguiar includes in its name the surname of a major Portuguese armigerous line, the Aguiar lineage (related to the Spanish Aguilar), whose arms depict a canting eagle. This is shown in the chief of the the municipal arms.

Presentation of Vila Pouca de Aguiar

Vila Pouca de Aguiar municipality had 14 998 inhabitants in 2001 and consists of 14 communes covering 432,68 km². It is part of Vila Real District, traditional province and 1999 ref. adm. region Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, current C.C.R. / NUTS II Norte, and NUTS III Alto Trás-os-Montes.
